What are Essential Oils?
I can get really scientific here with my explanation of essential oils, but I like to keep things simple and to the point. Essential oils are simply plants! Nothing scary or intimidating about that, right? Inside many plants are concentrated, highly potent chemical compounds hidden in the roots, seeds, flowers, or bark, and these compounds are essential oils. When you are using a pure grade essential oil, it is simply that: a pure essential oil with nothing added or removed from it, just natural plant power or as I like to call it, nature's medicine. Did you know that essential oils are referenced in the bible over 1,000 times?! Essential oils have been used for centuries and continue to be an excellent tool for meeting our everyday wellness needs. Essential oils are actually about 50-70 times more potent than herbs! This is why they are so consistently effective at getting the job done when it comes to supporting our bodies’ needs. As we continue to learn of the many therapeutic benefits of essential oils, we are seeing more and more published studies to educate on their benefits! I firmly believe that integration is key. These are the tools that every family should have on hand to be able to reach for first in times of need. Sometimes you will need something more! It is going to happen! But live empowered and integrate essential oils into your home so that you can be prepared for whatever life throws your way.
There are basically three ways to use essential oils: aromatically, topically, and internally. You will know when you are using a therapeutic grade essential oil when they are tested with the following: organoleptic testing, microbial testing, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, chirality testing, isotopic analysis, and heavy metal testing. It is crucial that you use essential oils that are third party tested for contamination AND adulteration when using them as a powerful tool for your health.
